Prism & NCDS Sign co-location agreement

National Commercial Data Services (NCDS – www.ncds.com), the leading data services company in Anguilla and Prism via its records and data storage company Stronghold have signed an agreement whereby all data from NCDS will be automatically stored offsite at the Prism backup facility in Barbados.  This is part of a reciprocal arrangement between the two companies.

John Rickards, Managing Director of NCDS, stated that an off island recovery facility was an important consideration in this part of the world which is impacted by severe hurricanes during the summer months. Any key organisation must have an off island solution.  We can recreate our environment in Barbados in the event of a catastrophe that renders our Anguilla location inoperable.
NCDS manages computer facilities for National Bank of Anguilla (NBA) and CCB Anguilla Ltd and a number of other large corporations in the northern Leeward islands. Pictured below are NCDS and Stronghold staff performing routine testing in Barbados during a recent visit.

Prism’s subsidiary Stronghold (www.strongholdsolutions.com) offers colocation, data storage, hosting, test site and tape storage solutions  in Barbados and plans to expand it via its hubs in Trinidad and Jamaica in the coming year. Left is Stronghold's Barbados facility.

Prepaid Gas Card Launched in Trinidad

Prism (www.prismco.com) and Hypertech Caribbean (www.hypertech-caribbean.com) recently announced the launch of a prepaid gas card in Trinidad.
PetroCard, a pre paid gas card targeted at customers with less than ten vehicles will introduce numerous benefits, not only for companies, but also individuals and the gas stations themselves. PetroCard will eliminate fueling via petty cash and allow for better management and control of fuelling cost via effective reporting.

The current fuel payment options present a wide range of challenges for companies; credit facility with gas stations leads to administrative costs associated with reconciling the bills to make payments at the end of every month; fleet card facilities are not appropriate for every company as it depends on their size; not all employees can be given the privilege of using a company credit card; cash payments increase the security risks due to frequent trips to the bank and reimbursing employees is always a stressful procedure.
In addition to these benefits, using PetroCard is a simple and effective process; companies fill out an application form and make a payment for the amount to be loaded onto each corporate gas card. To reload the card, a cheque is sent to the gas station with a breakdown of the amounts to be loaded onto each card; the administrator logs on to the system remotely, accesses the customer’s account, and enters the relevant amounts.
For individuals to reload their card, they must simply pay the amount that they wish to a gas station attendant; the card is swiped, and the amount entered enables a reload.
PetroCard has in place numerous security measures offering maximum protection for clients.
PetroCard also introduces increased accountability by providing report details on individual cards.
UNIPET; owning a total of 22 gas stations throughout Trinidad, will also reap the benefits of PetroCard as it will lead to increased patronage, eliminate the cost and hassle of offering credit facilities, promote a cashless gas station; less cash will pass through the stations and hence minimize loss through robbery and theft, and offer rewards for fuelling. At this point no other gas station offers this; the Unipet PetroCard will be the first ever to offer rewards to customers for their gas purchase.

Their solutions add value at the point of sale (POS) for financial institutions, merchants and consumers.  Its solutions include consultancy and project management services; Hypercom POS technology; POS network development and installation; credit and debit card production and delivery; and supplies for Hypercom POS terminals.

New Country Manager for Magna Jamaica

Doreen Morris-Thomas has been confirmed as the new Country Manager for Magna Jamaica.  Doreen has been acting in this role since February, 2011.

Doreen and the Magna Jamaica team have just completed a successful two-day RoadShow across Jamaica, which featured several stops across rural Jamaica, ending in a major show each day in Montego Bay, and Maypen, respectively.  The Roadshow featured lots of Magna-branded giveaways, several high-profile Jamaican artists performing and promoting the Magna Brand, as well as a Magna Auction, in which customers could ‘bid’ on giveaways such as TVs, Microwaves, Blenders, and even a full Couch Set, using just their Magna receipts.  This created a lot of buzz around the country and provided great visibility to the Magna brand within Jamaica.

Prism partners with International Contact Centre Leader

Leading regional and international Business Process Outsourcers (BPO) Prism Services and Transactel, recently announced a strategic alliance between the two companies.   The objective of the alliance is to create a Trinidad based “centre of excellence” for contact centre services which will become the first choice of organisations, from the region and internationally, who wish to outsource a host of service delivery functions.

Neil Fairfield, General Manager of Prism’s Outsourced Business Services Division, believes that Trinidad is very much under-represented in the international contact centre market.   He adds that “Despite many other Caribbean countries employing thousands in the industry, we still have to establish ourselves as a destination for service buyers.  We already have the ingredients for success; a thriving contact centre industry is built on a foundation of leading edge information and communications technology and exceptional staff operating at all levels within the organisation.  Our tertiary education establishments are now producing significant numbers of articulate, intelligent and committed individuals well suited to building and supporting the required technology and delivering world class services to any organisation’s customers”.
On the alliance with Transactel Fairfield added “It’s not often that you find a partner organisation that so clearly demonstrates values so similar to yours.   It’s very easy to see that we can work well together.  Transactel provides us with a clear roadmap for developing our business and the industry in Trinidad in all key aspects of call centre operation.   We’ve seen many other call centres, both in the region and internationally, and few can compare.”
Transactel is headquartered in Barbados and operates contact centres in Guatemala and El Salvador.     The company has doubled in size over the past 5 years and now employs over 4,500 ‘Service Heroes’.    In 2009 it was ranked 30th in the Central American and Caribbean Regional Best Companies List by the Great Place to Work Institute.   It has also received several other contact centre industry awards including being ranked as one of the world’s top 20 contact centres by Contact Centre World in the same year.
The Prism Services Group operates in Trinidad, Barbados and Jamaica and provides services to many of the Caribbean’s premier businesses.   In addition to the call centre services offered by the parent company their portfolio extends to document mailing solutions, through Streamline Solutions Ltd. (formerly Trinidad and Tobago Mailing Systems Ltd.), Loyalty Management and Physical and Electronic Records Management (Stronghold Data Solutions Ltd.).    Prism’s contact centre operation’s telephony technology also supports client needs for voice messaging, remote hosted PBX, automated customer surveys and a host of other services.

Stronghold has recently installed a new state-of-the-art industrial shredder at its Kingston facility at Retirement Crescent.
